Maun - Ghanzi - Maun
Sadly we did not have a 4x4 - our trip would have been far shorter and we would have seen more wildlife but Blue Bird was not built for Botswana's dirt roads so the never ending tar road was our only choice.
We did however have one opportunity to stretch our legs.
I did come across some lonely grave sites and donkey carts ( which in my opinion and only my opinion as hubby's opinion was far different ) made for more interesting photos.
Endless road there, store done and endless road back we eventually arrived back in Maun just as the sun was going down.
We stopped off to get something for dinner and then headed off to our accommodation.
Motsebe Backpackers
We ate our dinner while sitting on a bench overlooking the river and enjoyed the sunset that was happening fast, what more could one ask for.
After disposing of our take away boxes we went to fetch our gadgets from the tent and headed off to the main house to utilise the free wi-fi.
Well the next two hours had me thinking quietly that my husband really deserved a medal for patience, something he doesn't have much of, I was really expecting him to lose his temper but thankfully he held that in check.
When we entered the " lounge " where guests could sit and relax, watch tv or fiddle on their laptops, tablets or smartphones we found the lady that had booked us in and a friend taking up the couch in front of the tv, we quietly went and sat on the only other couch available and proceeded to ask for the wi-fi password so that we could connect and catch up on emails etc, we were told that the wi-fi was not working..................
I then decided to download my photos for the day and sort them while hubby made his peace with the wi-fi scenario and instead watched the movie that was on.................... this did not last long though as every time their phones rang they would turn the volume off and have a major conversation with the person on the other side.................... after the third or fourth time that this happened hubby in a very restrained voice suggested it would be best if we made coffee and headed back to the tent.
The tent though was really furnished beautifully and we were looking forward to a well deserved rest as we were heading off to Kasane the next morning.
I decided to spend some more time sorting my photos while hubby played a game on his tablet and then went to sleep.
The night was very dark and quiet so imagine the fright I got when I clearly heard a hippo not far off, although half frightened to death being the idiot I tend to be at times I decided to venture down to the river to see if I could see it............... unfortunately not, but what a sound to fall asleep to.
The following morning hubby woke up feeling like a new sixpence while I felt like a bear with a sore tooth, we hadn't noticed the night before that my bed was standing at an angle.............. every time I turned over my bedding would land on the floor and I almost followed. Needless to say that my dearest half found this very funny.............
He stopped laughing very quickly though when I told him that as he had no sympathy he could pack the car on his own while I went to take the photos that I couldn't take the night before.
Although the view sitting at the river was lovely, we personally did not enjoy Motsebe Backpackers and although we will not be back we wish them all the best.
