Namibia Chapter Five

The sun had risen on our last day in Namibia, as the guys were only going in to the store to check that everything was in order and meet with the manager so that he could sign off, they did not have to rush off to early. For the first time since arriving we were all able to have breakfast together, after way to much bacon, sausage, beans, eggs, toast and coffee they headed off to the store and I headed off to the beach to walk and snap pictures at anything and everything.

The morning was chilly and misty, I wondered if Mother Nature knew that I wasn't fond of the cold making it easier for me to say goodbye.

Hubby phoned and we met up farther up on the beach for a walk together, Phineas had opted to take a walk through town to pick up a few mementos, we would meet up with him back at the chalet.

If you look at the photos above you will see thousands of pebbles, Hubby thought I'd lost my mind when I went hunting for a plastic bag, adamant that I was taking them all home with me, two bags later he threatened to make me walk back to SA if I tried filling another bag ( I have none of them now, we had to move and there was no way I was lugging
 them around  ).

With two bags of pebbles ( and a lot of sea sand ) we headed back to the car, Hubby called Phineas to check if he was back at the chalet as we were all going to Dune 7, the store manager had told him that we could not visit Namibia and not experience Dune 7.
Yipppeeee!! One more adventure before we left.

WHAT AN ADVENTURE!!

When we first arrived we had no idea what an adrenalin rush lay ahead. We first sat down to lunch and a bit of dutch courage. No surprise I the obsessive photographer had to take a walkabout to snap a shot or two when I discovered the monste truck and insisted we all had our photo taken with it as you saw above.

Lunch over we headed for reception to book our ride down the dunes, unfortunately no one may ride down the dune named Dune 7 anymore due to it being to dangerous but we were assured that the dune we would ride would be just and exhilirating and boy oh boy they were not lying. We were taken up to the dunes on quads and given safety instructions and then the fun began. At first I was apprehensive as the board was just a thin piece of masonite but after the first ride nothing was stopping me...

An hour later the fun was sadly over, covered in sand and I do mean covered, it was in our clothing, ears, noses, mouths... everywhere we headed back down the dunes for a very much needed drink.

Lo and behold the day was not over, we headed back to the chalet for a much needed shower and then headed out for our last walk on the beach and then out for dinner.

The sunset on our last day was spectacular.

Our restaurant of choice was designed to look like a ship and aptly named.

We were convinced that Phineas would not be able to finish his meal, a curry that was apparently fiery hot...

He proved us wrong...

The smoking area, thankfully it was a lovely evening.

With tummies full of delicious food, exhausted from riding down the dunes ( although we had showered we could still feel sand in impossible places ) we headed off to get a good nights sleep as we were heading for home the next morning and Hubby wanted to leave at three in the morning.

If you are heading off to Swakopmund I would gladly recommend Alte Brucke, the staff and management were helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were scrumptious.
